Pre-Conference Workshops on September 21st

Two engaging workshops will be held on September 21 as part of the pre-conference program.
Both sessions will take place at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Taiwan University — the same building as the main conference venue.
Registration is required to attend the workshops. Details are as follows:

1. Sparking Change|Student Sustainability Clubs x Campus Climate Action (21 Sep 14:00-17:00)

Join us for a hands-on, 3-hour workshop to discover how student-led initiatives can drive real change on campus and beyond!

Led by students from the NTU Climate Action Club, we’ll start with an innovative board game where you’ll make strategic decisions regarding adaptation and mitigation to combat climate change in cities around the world. See firsthand how collaboration and smart choices can impact global temperatures.

Next, put your creativity to the test in a unique activity: Build Your Own Club (Student Ver.) In groups, you’ll tackle challenges and brainstorm real-world actions for your campus, experiencing what it takes to grow a successful student organization.

This workshop is a practical exploration of how student-led sustainability efforts can create tangible impact!

  • Organizer: National Taiwan University Climate Action Club
  • Language: The main language will be English.
  • Capacity: Limited to 50 participants

2. SDGs-Inspired Circular Economy Board Game Workshop (21 Sep 14:00-17:00)

Explore the value of recycling through play — and take action for SDG 12!

Join us for an engaging, game-based workshop that brings the concept of a circular economy to life. Designed in response to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, this session uses a board game to explore Taiwan’s recycling systems — including both their strengths and challenges.Rather than focusing on rigid recycling rules, the game encourages players to reflect on the economic value of resources and rethink the role of recycling in daily life. It’s a fun, hands-on way to better understand how our consumption choices impact the environment and how smart design can promote sustainability.

  • Organizer: Shawn Liu, Taiwan RE-THINK Environmental Education Association
  • Language: The main language will be Mandarin Chinese. An English group and assistance will be available — international participants are very welcome!
  • Capacity: Limited to 35 participants

GREENIE 2025 Young Researcher Workshop (22 Sep 17:00-21:00)

The workshop is designed to help early-career researchers and students connect and interact across different fields in a relaxed and engaging environment. We hope these interactions will inspire new ideas and future collaborations. The workshop will include the following events:

  1. Beyond the Sessions: Connect, Share, Collaborate

Feeling a bit lonely at conferences? Don’t worry — we’ve prepared a series of light-hearted, interactive moments to help young scholars connect beyond the lecture halls. Scattered throughout the event, these activities are designed to spark conversations, encourage idea sharing, and help you meet peers from different fields and countries. All you need is an open mind, a smile, and a dash of curiosity — you might just leave with new friends, fresh ideas, and even future collaborators.

  1. Interactive Networking Session (22 September 6:00pm–7:00pm)

This session offers a relaxed, welcoming space for early-career researchers to meet and engage. Through a few light, interactive activities, you’ll have the chance to share your research, learn more about others, and start conversations that may lead to exciting collaborations. Come ready to connect — you might walk away with new insights and lasting friendships.

  1. Dinner Party (22 September 7:00pm–9:00pm)

After the workshop, unwind with us over a delightful dinner at Sukiyaki&Hotpot (魯山人和風壽喜鍋物)! We’ll serve food drinks, and create a warm space to enjoy good conversation and great company.

Dinner is partially sponsored by the conference, so participants only need to contribute NT$300 (to be paid in cash at check-in). All other workshop activities are free of charge.

If you’d like to join the dinner, please indicate so in the registration form.
